History:
TotalKare of America, Inc., located in Syracuse, New York, was established in 1987 as a division of a locally owned and operated family business that sold medical equipment to nursing homes and hospitals throughout New York and New England. Steve Bergstraesser was hired as a consultant for his engineering background and extensive knowledge of leasing in an effort to increase the company’s market share. Steve’s entrepreneurial skills identified alternative opportunities to further strengthen the company’s position in the marketplace.
The key alternative opportunity identified was a high-tech security solution designed for nursing homes and hospitals. Recognizing the growth potential in this sector of the healthcare market place, Steve began to aggressively introduce the concept. Customers were intrigued by the solutions’ functionality and the company’s ability to provide alternative purchasing and leasing options.
Steve Bergstraesser bought the company and became the Owner and President in 1994. TotalKare’s reputation in the healthcare community has allowed for recruitment of the “best and brightest” in the industry to represent its products and services. Today, TotalKare employs an extensive team of professionals who specialize in sales & marketing, product development, project design & management, leasing, service & installations and customer service.
TotalKare now has a licensed Nursing Home Administrator as a member of its team to help educate consumers about the functionality and benefits of the products and the potential impact on their operations. Focusing solely on the healthcare industry is what has provided a solid foundation for TotalKare’s continued success.

TotalKare also supports its customers by participating in legislative meetings and providing focused training/educational seminars to prospective customers, just to name a few.
